Egypt by Emily Deegan (aged 8)

Egypt here I come.
Time machine rattling,
Scorching sun,
Hot sweaty people,
Hard working children,
Stenchy animals.

The poor people looked so sad,
The boiling animals
Had an extremely strong stench
Swirling off them.
The wailing water
Was zooming down the river
And past the villages,
Watching time go slowly by.

Zoom in to the Future! by Katie (aged 9)

Whoooosh I'm away,
In a completely different dimension.
I trust my clever underpants,
Though I don't know where we'll end!

A peculiar sight I notice
From electronic homework writers,
To shoes which take you to the moon!
I might even live in this world of people, oh so clever!

I feel so strange being left out,
I want something to entertain me.
I sprinted to the nearest shop,
Staring into the window my eyes lit up!

There is so much to choose from, never seen so many toys in my life!
To my amazement there were wings that could make you fly!
A mirror you could walk inside, a wardrobe full of everlasting space!
I stared at them in surprise!

I bought a pen which writes what you tell it to!
How wonderful!
There was even a museum telling you about the year 2007!
In a glass case there was a car I wondered why?

I found out why straight away!
The cars now can fly!
I don't feel right here so I'll leave.
I'll go back to where I belong I will feel relived!

The Bottomless Pit with Light by Abigail Williamson

Down, Down into the bottomless pit
Never, never could I imagine this
I've seen cavemen, Victorians and
Doyouthinkhesauruses but where
To now? Am I in space or maybe
Dining with Henry the VIIIth
There's endless possibilities
Wait, Wait I think I see light
By golly it's a Loch Ness Monster
Click and I'm awake for another
Day

Travelling in Time by Ciara Brady (aged 13)

If I could travel in time,
Where would I go?
To prevent a crime
Or help industry grow?

I could go to the times of the Vikings,
To explore a village, a longboat or two.
I might bring back artefacts with me,
Combs, jewellery, runes or some weaving to do.

If I could travel in time,
Where would I go?
To prevent a crime
Or help industry grow?

I could visit the Pharaohs in Egypt,
When the great Sphinx was only a cub.
Discover the hieroglyphic crypt,
How the very first pyramids scrubbed up.

If I could travel in time,
Where would I go?
To prevent a crime
Or help industry grow?

Or maybe the year nineteen thirty-nine,
That September when World War Two started.
That voice on the radio would be mine,
Saying I'd fix things before I departed,

If I could travel in time,
Where would I go?
To prevent a crime
Or help industry grow?

I could go to the time of the Black Death,
To tell the people to hope and pray.
I could let the people breathe another breath,
With an excellent cure from today.

Where would I go and what would I do?
Could I help? I wonder how.
The decision is hard, I just can't choose.
I think I'll just stay in, now.

Time Travel by Ruthie Kennedy (aged 13)

I realise I've never cried before,
I've saved the tears up, more and more.
Until I travel to the end of time;
Then I'll cry for all mankind.

When will we notice the damage we cause?
When will we recognise nature's loss?
The birds, the bees, the plants, the trees
All die with everything Man achieves.

And then I'll mourn for sweet, sweet life.
From New York to Texas, from Ayr to Fife
Our "glorious" machines, our "marvellous" brain;
But Man's ways do not change, we stay the same.

We are God's most notorious curse
The world treats us fair, we treat it worse
Animals look with wonde rat the only one
Earth.
But we take it for granted, ignore its worth.

I've decided now, that's it, no more.
Man's evil deeds shake me to the core.
If I could die, just die right now.
Or go back and save the world...

The Best of the Rest. Thanks to everyone who entered, and well done! if your poem is here.

I Found a Time Machine by Orit Addous (aged 13)

I found a time machine
On my way to school
I picked it up and at the back
Were a set of rules:

1. Keep away from children
They might get lost in time.
Keep away from dinosaurs
They might come back to life.

2. Do not give this to the queen
She'll come back to the throne.
Don't give this to Myrtle
For she'll just come to moan.

3. Hide this from the Romans
They'll take over our lands.
Hide this from the Witch of the West
It'll be in the wrong hands.

4. Don't let the robots know,
We'd work them hard as slaves.
Don't let the cavemen hear,
They'd make us live in caves.

And if you don't think you should have this
Go back in time
And give it to the little boy
Who bought it for a dime.

Time to Go Back by Amy Allison (aged 12)

I have a time machine,
Where should I go?
Back to the dinosaurs,
Or to what my parents know?

The 60s, 70s and 80s,
What an inspirational time.
When music was at its best,
And hairstyles and clothes were larger than life.

Elvis Presley, what a legend.
Singing his heart out,
In his "Blue Suede Shoes"

Dolly Parton, "Working Nine To Five".
A country and western star,
Through and through.

Those clothes were in a league of their own,
Jungle prints, in green and yellow,
Or to dress like an Indian,
All of which was normal.

Hairstyles were big and bold,
Trying to stand out in the crowd.
Hairspray and gel were essential,
To look cool.

I've had my fun now,
Seen what it was like.
Time to go back,
Or should I say forward,
To the here and now.

Cyberspace by Neelam Shah

Here I am standing in an unknown
place and in an unknown time zone.
Filled with unusual but extravagant air planes
and hovercrafts which are very new to me.
So where am I?
I guess I am in cyberspace.

Here I am surrounded by
strange people dressed
in weird but high-tech clothes
wearing modified glasses.
I must be the odd one out here I thought.
So where am I?
I guess I am in cyberspace.

Here I am walking down
a clean street when suddenly,
these cool fast 25th century cars
zoom past me with a rocket
glued at the back.
I am thinking, No way this can be
invented back in my era.
So where am I?
I guess I am in cyberspace.

Here I am sitting on a silver plated
metallic bench looking confused,
then out of nowhere two robots come and sit
next to me and ask me
Can I be of any assistance?
I was left clueless and even more confused.
So where am I?
I guess I am in cyberspace.

Here I am caught up in a time
loop which I can't get out of,
until I hear the sound of my alarm,
then finally I wake up.
So where am I?
I guess I am back home.

Time Machine by Harvey Macdonald (aged 10)

My name is Milly Molly,
I have a time machine,
And if you get something wrong,
It'll turn you green.
It has a lot of buttons,
I don't know which one to pick,
But I think I'll go to Lolly land,
And have something to lick.

Grannie Kent by Claire Condric

In the time machine back I went
To the years of great Grannie Kent
Her grey curly hair fell over her face
As she wore lace around her waist

In the time machine back I hopped
Until I was back to where I had mopped
Where have you been I was asked
Way, way back in the past.

Back in Time by Maddie Lightfoot

Back in time, way, way back
To my mother's holiday shack
Where Grandad smoked his long black pipe
And Granny baked a yummy snack

Uncle sat and read a book
And aunty went to help Granny cook
But where was the big TV?
Off I went to have a look

I searched behind Uncle's teddy bear
I searched through the underwear
I searched in the house
But the TV wasn't anywhere

Gosh this place is really boring
In a minute I'll be snoring
Back in the time machine
So I'll be home in the morning

The Christmas Story by Miriam Dewes (aged 8)

I want to travel back in time,
to where the Christmas story began.
When Mary got a massive fright,
when a shiny silver and gold angel glided into her house,
when Joseph saw an angel in his sleep,
and when baby Jesus himself was born in the wooden stable
lying asleep in the soft manger.

1966 by David King (aged 8)

I would like to travel back in time,
To England in 1966.
My Mum was only a day old,
And England won the World Cup.

The crowd went wild, except for the child,
As England scored the first goal.
The keeper, of course,
Was the dreaded Darth Maul.

I Wish I Could Go Back in Time by Katie Reed (aged 8)

I wish I could go back in time.
I wish I could go today.
I would go to Egypt,
Where there was no school that day.

I wouldn't have to learn to read and write.
I wouldn't have to do Maths.
No Literacy, no ICT, not even Geography.
"What's 6÷ 2?"
I wish I could go back in time, sometimes.

I Wish I Could Go Back in Time by Mathea Head (aged 8)

I wish I could go back in time to Egypt,
to see mean Kings,
and strict Queens,
frightening mummies,
scary dummies,
tired slaves,
gold and silver,
delicious food,
what it smelled like,
to see the amazing sights,
to hear if it sounds silent.

Egypt
I ..
..wish
I ..could.. go
to.. Egypt... To
see .the .pyramids
and to see Tutankhamen,
when .....he.... first .....died.
To .......smell .......the .......tomb,
To .......see .......the....... afterlife,
To..... hear..... the .....cry .....of .....death
To.... feel.... the.... bones.... of.... the ....mummies
And........how........ the ........after........ life........ began.

by Ellen Saunders (aged 8)

I Would Love! by Rachel Gibson (aged 8)

I would love to travel back to Tudor times,
To see Elizabeth the First,
Or maybe to be there at her birth.
I just can't help it.
I want to go.
It's not fair!
Mum say's, "No!"

The Leader by Hannah Overton (aged 9)

Egypt
The Leader
The great Leader
The great mighty Leader
The great mighty Leader Tutankhamen
The great mighty Leader Tutankhamen is coming
The great, the mighty, Tutankhamen is coming soon
The great, the mighty, Tutankhamen has come. "Aagh!"
Nowv I knowv I'vev travelled back in time to ancient Egypt.

I Am a Moon Man in 1542 by Olyvia Hall (aged 9)

I've gone back in time,
I'm the first man on the moon,
pouncing like a cat, up and down in space,
lunging like a springy lion.

I am under no stretching gravity,
The moon has the brightest ray.
I'd love to jump up high,
It's boring jumping low.

I wouldn't even dream, or think of going to the moon,
I often stare at the stars,
I often dream of different planets,
But my favourite one so far is definitely the moon.

All my dreams and life plans happened on the moon in 1542.
I was drawn into a time machine.
I twisted the button and span
The colours came to my eyes.
This all happened on the moon in 1542.

Egypt
If I could I'd…
Travel back in time!
I .......would .......see……
The... beauty ...of ...the ...earth!
The place where time will never end!
Some pharaohs that wear gleaming gold!
The .tall, .proud, .pyramids, .But .most .of .all,
T u t a n k h a m u n! The.. ruler ..of.. the ..earth!
Well,... he ...sounds ...pretty ...cool. ..He .has to be.
